I have just made a bunch of new stockings - 6 pairs are stripey and there is a plain white pair (perfect for those schoolgirl skirts and sailor dresses!)

This isn't my photo, but I saw this on Flickr and it really hit home.

This is exactly what it's like in our region at the moment. In 2 weeks' time we'll barely be able to water our garden with a hose as our water restrictions are tightening.

I've taken to showering with a bucket under my feet, to catch all the extra water.

But we think it's bad for us in town - it's even worse for the farmer.

Bloody depressing. Pray for rain!

It's been ages since I sewed anything dolly. At least 4 months! I've had a rotten virus for the last week, and an eye infection rendered me pretty much useless in the seeing department. Today I woke up and I could SEE! SEEEEEE!!!

Suddenly inspired, I locked myself in the sewing room and came up with the skirt and tights.

I think the tee would look better with a different skirt, but it's all I had with me in the sewing room at the time.

It hasn't rained here for about two months. We are in the middle of a 4 year drought, and it's not going to end anytime soon.

Today's rain has been just lovely ... but already the sun is out again.

We sold our house in only a few days, but won't be moving into the Downer house until August 3. I absolutely can't wait - this living life in limbo thing is really getting me down. I miss not having my dollies, and I miss not being able to post about them.

I've had heaps of time to do hand stitching though - I decided this year to enter items for sale in the Canberra Quilters' Show sales room. It's been heaps of fun, but my sashiko stitch isn't getting any better (and boy, it needs work). I had to withdraw my big quilt from the show - I injured my back last week, and machine sewing isn't possible right now. It was a very low moment when I made that decision.

On the left are the finished panels for the pincushions, and on the right are the shoulder bags - unstitched so far.

This morning I went op shopping before I went to the markets for fruit and veg. God bless you YMCA. You always have the best stuff. Today's loot is:

a JAJ Pyrex round casserole dish (they had a whole set of three of these, but the smaller two were in really bad nick);
an orange Pyrex Agee large pie dish;
and a Pyrex (USA) oval casserole in the snowflake design WITH LID! I never get things with lids...

And here's something I prepared earlier - these are demitasse cups and saucers which my mother got for her wedding in 1963. I've had them for years, but have never photographed them before. I loved them when I was a little girl, and when I bought my first house mum gave them to me (I think she finally figured I was responsible enough)

Hello, Miss Daphne

This young lady turned up on my doorstep on Monday.

She's a bit of a swish thing, and she does tend to pose a bit. She said her name is Miss Daphne.

Poor Miss Daphne needs a little sun after her long flight from Holland to Australia, and our fog this morning wasn't helping her at all. Thank heavens her dress from faerysequins perked her up a bit!

Today I spent over an hour on the phone talking to a newspaper reporter about Blythe. Much of that time was spent discussing Rory here, and how I have always found her hard to bond with no matter what I do.

But looking at her right now in this Simply Kir hat, I am so in love. What's my problem?

Blue is my little pirate wench. She wanted to model the skirt and tights I made her. Blue doesn't complain about modelling like Maeve does, although it did cost me a bottle of re-ment Jamaican Rum.

Yep - it's finally happened. Michelle has pulled her finger out long enough to sew some Blythe frocks and stockings (but don't worry - I washed my finger first)..

Postage around the world is US $2 and I can combine a few items for one postage cost - just ask. There are 8 pairs of the stockings available, but only one of each dress, but I am making more in different styles and colours and fabrics so I'm happy to hold one for you if you want to see what else I come up with in the next 24 hours.
